An epidemic of teenage suicides sweeps across the country. After a new round of public indignation one of the cases is reopened by the Investigative Committee.
The case is lead by the venerable investigator Korotkov and a young careerist Lazarev. Their routine investigation drags on for years, it breaks their own lives, and the perpetrators turn out to be closer than one could ever imagine.
